“Where intention goes, energy flows”

Living with greater courage, abundance and joy - experience comes at a cost.
My cost was a close encounter with stepping across to the other side.
I am a dreamer, a believer, a doer. And someone who truly attaches emotion to each and every little thing I do, attain or encounter. After all, how can I not?
It's taken me 13 years to write about a defining moment in my life which would become the catalyst in my personal evolution to who I am, today. I was young and eager to seek out all that each corner of the globe had to offer. Along a gravel stretch as we tootled along at a regulated speed on a moped, my helmet - in a split second - had been adjusted and we saw a car careering towards us at a rapid rate.
The strange thing about those last moments, before something happens, is seeing what is to come in time, it STOPS. It slows, it shows you in slow motion, as if time was not a measure and then it disappears.
In those slow moments - my life as I knew it, was to change. In every single way imaginable.
A blunt facial trauma was the medical diagnosis. Of what would be when a car hits an object which flips gaining air and lands back down on the person involved in the trauma. Breaking their face and body parts. And in rural Mexico, the chances of a positive outcome, are minimal. The hours, days, weeks and months which transpired were a reset. A pause. A reevaluation of all that is important. A rerouting, calculating and healing.
The magic thing about time is hindsight. When I look back on this period of my life, I do so with great admiration and love. For me, my family and all those who supported me in my journey of healing and love for wellness - making that mindful decision to be well. To work day and night knowing that the time that was would be an incredible paradigm shift which would mould my future in a very obvious positive way.
The result is seven titanium plates inserted into my face from the brow to the jaw bone with added reinforcement of mesh holding up the middle maxilla cheek area stretching from ear to ear. I have seen first-hand what immense results can occur from botanical plant extracts in scar tissue healing, regeneration and the complexities of working within the deeper layers of the skin through topical application, lymph drainage and muscular manipulation.
I found focusing on my wellness to be the single most important facet of my healing. Within this process I needed to regain vision, conversation, cognitive motion, and movement - the most basic movement. To regain the ability to move freely with no pain, to smile without forgetting to raise the other side of my face, to see without finding it glaringly difficult to with how over-sensitised my eyes had become, to eat, to talk, to walk. Minute by minute, day by day, month by month and vision by vision I gained traction and strength and stamina to focus on each element of healing.
Once we are changed, we are forever changed. I have learnt my resilience and I have learnt my overpowering ability to not only survive but to feel, love and learn. And to use these strengths, as strengths relinquishing any stigma which may have suggested otherwise.
And so, my journey of Amanzi - derived from our native homeland, South Africa meaning water; 'where intention goes, energy flows' - aims to create wellness spaces focused on an abundance of integrity, touch and aroma. Spaces which transcend your here and now and allow your body, mind and soul to connect. Promoting profound healing, connectivity and love with results driving the forefront of skincare innovation.
